Council Leader announces major regeneration schemes at 2019/20 budget

Cllr Leader James Swindlehurst announced plans for on-going major regenerations works which will start around Slough over the course of the next financial year during Labour’s budget presentation at Slough Council’s budget setting meeting on Thursday 21st March.

Details on what was announced can be read below

Former Montem Leisure Centre Site

  • A new neighbourhood creating circa 175 dwellings
  • 20% of which will be family houses with gardens
  • New public realm and enhanced green open space
  • Waterside/wetland improvements

Stoke Wharf (Slough Canal Basin)

  • High-quality residential led development with circa 200 homes, including social and affordable units
  • Enhanced formal open space
  • Encouraging active use of the canal, with towpath improvements and better cycling and walking links

Former Slough Library Site

  • Significant return on investment
  • Opportunities for shared ownership in residential element of development
  • 14 linked social homes being provided at Alpha Street
  • £25 million of capital investment to reinvigorate the town centre
  • 2 hotels, branded restaurants and new apartments including shared-ownership properties

TVU Site

  • Mixed use scheme, including circa 1400 homes,
  • new offices and commercial headquarters, early evening leisure uses to enhance the town centre
  • Public realm improvements – open space, town square, public transport links to Slough station
